I had the opportunity to build a custom river table for a fantastic set of clients. They selected a stunning slab of Texas Pecan, and after discussing their vision, we decided to pair it with a darkened turquoise epoxy to create a unique, flowing river effect through the center of the wood. The rich grain of the Texas Pecan was the perfect foundation, and the turquoise added a striking, modern contrast that really brought the piece to life.

For the edges, the clients chose a 22 1/2 degree chamfer, a subtle but impactful detail that elevated the overall look of the table. The top edge was finished with a slight 1/8” roundover, adding just the right amount of softness to the lines.

Once the piece was shaped and the epoxy poured, I finished the wood with Rubio Monocoat Pure, which enhanced the natural beauty of the Pecan while providing a durable, protective layer. I also applied N3 Nano ceramic coating for added protection, ensuring the table would be both beautiful and practical for everyday use.

To finish it off, I sourced the legs from Bear Hollow Supply. The design of the legs complemented the table without taking away from the striking top, creating a perfect balance.

The end result was a functional piece of art that combined the warmth and character of Texas Pecan with the boldness of darkened turquoise epoxy—a truly custom piece that would make a statement in any room.
